PUB Crawl for November 7, 2016

Phil Penn GwynnAs the US crawls across the finish line of a presidential election, I'll be taking to the skies to head to Canada. No, not to scout new homes in Vancouver (does anyone know a good real estate agent...just asking for a friend), but to facilitate the NPSP Day Vancouver. And yes, I already voted early.

Regardless where the Americans among you will be watching the election results roll in, or where non-American friends will be preparing their homes to welcome all those folks saying they're going to move if their candidate loses, join me in a round of pre-election knowledge at the PUB Crawl.

Don't forget, you can have the goodness of the PUB Crawl delivered into your inbox each Monday morning by subscribing today!

Great Posts from the Salesforce Power of Us Hub

  1. Multiple filtered Related Lists
John Fine (Hood River County School District Foundation)

The joy of record types, the agony of related lists. What strategies are organizations using to more effectively show the keep related list items together by record type?

  2. NPSP Error email notifications
    Judi Sohn (Salesforce.org)

Is your inbox filled with weird coded emails about NPSP errors all the sudden. It's okay, we'll get through them together. Here's Judi to the rescue to explain why you're receiving these emails.

  3. A different Use Case for Engagement Plans
    Jane Isaac (501 Partners LLC)

Looking for non-fundraising examples of the new engagement plans in the NPSP? Here's a great use case that can give you ideas.

  4. Recording Donation Dates for Salesforce and Accounting Software
David Elliott (National Iranian American Council)

Something as simple as recording a check can actually be quite difficult. How do you record the check date, versus the received date, versus the deposit date?

  5. Nonprofit Success Pack v3.83 Released
    Chris Polcyn (Salesforce.org)

Nothing warms my open source heart more than seeing error logging as a significant change during a release. But wait, there's more! Nightly batches, household naming, and engagement plan updates to name a few.

  6. NPSP Advisory Board meeting minutes from October 18, 2016 meeting
    Katie McFadden (Swift River Consulting)

Dreamforce highlights, Lightning experience discussion, and new community committees lead the discussion from this NPSP Advisory Board meeting.

  7. Syadmin profile vs clone of SysAdmin profile
John Fine (Hood River County School District Foundation)

With great power comes great responsibility. To clone or not to clone the Sysadmin profile, that is the question.

  8. Activities auto archived
    Donna Whitig (BackOffice Thinking)

As all those great Activities you've recorded in Salesforce "disappear" (okay, they're "archived") after 365, what can you do to make sure they're not lost into the ether?

Great Events for the Salesforce Nonprofit Community

  1. NPSP Day Vancouver - November 9
    Ryan Ozimek (Soapbox Engage)

I can't think of a better way to spend my post-American election day than in the warmth of the NPSP Vancouver community. Instead of looking for a new residence, I'll be facilitating a day of networking, learning, and knowledge sharing.

Great Ideas for Nonprofits Using Salesforce

  1. Mr. Belvedere for turning on new NPSP Features
    Michael Kolodner (Spark Program)

Adding new objects and fields to profiles is tedious and leads to increased cases of headaches and hair-pulling. Let's keep us all sane with help from Mr. Belvedere.

That's all for this week! Did I miss something? Have any tips or suggestions? Send all tip jar suggestions to me at cozimek@picnet.net.

Keep soaking up the goodness!

Your barkeeper,
Ryan
